Welcome to Weekend Pattern maker. In this 3 day course, you will develop the basic techniques that we use to draft and digitize patterns.

DAY ONE

 

In this lesson, we’ll begin with a straightforward, accessible project—drafting a baby hat pattern—to teach you the basics of patternmaking that you can later apply to more complex patterns. 

You will learn how to create your first pattern in one day with me, even if you’re a total beginner. Watch over my shoulder and draft along with me. By the end of the lesson, you will have drafted your first pattern!

While we start with a simple project, the skills learned are the same foundational techniques used by professional designers to create digital patterns efficiently.

DAY TWO

In this lesson, you’ll take your pattern from the previous day and be able to scan and digitize it. Designers pay upwards off $150 per pattern to get them digitized, so think of how much you’ll save being able to quickly do this and not waiting in a digitizer’s queue!

Who Is This Not For?

This program may not be ideal for those seeking advanced garment patternmaking tutorials or who only want manual pattern skills without digital components.

We do have an 8 week Flat Patternmaking Bootcamp for those interested in flat patterns only. We also offer a separate, more comprehensive 8 week Digital Sewing Patterns Bootcamp to expand on these skills and turn this into a full-time business, along with how to grade patterns digitally, find and work with testers, and promote and market your patterns. Because of time constraints, that is not covered in this 3 day program.
